Something lingers longer than it should. Something has already changed. An attempt to hold the fragile, the untamed, without arresting its movement.

All That Comes Into Being Leans Gently (2026) unfolds as a delayed manifestation, a ritual of mourning, an act of love directed towards the complex, the impossible, the tender, and the playful. Towards that which takes time. Towards the sweat running down the small of the back inside borrowed waders. Towards the searching beams of headlamps. Towards straining bodies moving through the current. Towards that which carries without holding on.

Fragments of stories gather in temporary constellations – remains, traces, bodies, materials. A place where life and destruction coexist. Where temporary assemblages become communities. Where strength gathers around what is dying. Where that which is coming to an end continues to speak.

The exhibition is rooted in Arnell and Fjell's long-standing collaborative artistic practice and in the two-month residency they undertook in Svalbard during the summer of 2025. The residency, hosted by Artica Svalbard, was made possible through a nomination by Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum.

The exhibition includes documentation and material from the performance It Passes (2025), performed in and along the Longyearelva river in Svalbard; Dear Artica, a text originally written for the publication Artica Anniversary Anthology (2026) and presented here in a revised version; and the five-channel video installation Always In-Between and Everywhere (2026).

Over the past ten years, the artists have shared breath in places including Los Angeles, Bolzano, Amsterdam, Treignac, Stockholm, Skomvær, Berlin, Lisbon, Tampere, Mustarinda, Cairo, Riga, Helsinki, and Longyearbyen. Through these site-specific artistic engagements, they have worked with sculpture, text, painting, video installation, sound, performance, workshops, and participatory walks and paddling excursions.

Their practice moves through queer ecologies in which bodies, landscapes, materials, and other life forms come into being with and through one another. By placing themselves within relational, porous, and mutually dependent contexts, they explore how coexistence materializes—as method, material, and lived experience. Here, the in-between is not an empty space but a site of connection, where vulnerability sustains and transformation never ceases.

Post-production of the video was made possible through an artist residency at Circolo Scandinavo, Rome.
